Training Exercises
The
Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) now
requires every community in the United States to conduct a minimum of
four Emergency Preparedness exercises every year.
The LEPC is currently planning a local
training exercise to be held soon. When the exact dates of exercises
are announced, they will be posted here.

Defirbilator) class is being offered at the Mid-Ohio Valley Health
Department, 211 6th Street, Parkersburg at 6pm on November 7, 2011

Mid-Ohio Valley
Regional CERT
The
Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Community Emergency Response Team
(CERT) serves Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood
Counties in West Virginia. The CERT Program educates people about
disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and
trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety,
light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical
operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during
exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or
workplace following an event when professional responders are not
immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to
support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in
emergency preparedness projects in their community. Basic CERT
training is FREE! [More

National institute for Chemical Studies has produced a number of
documents that provide vital information for sheltering in plane in
the event of a chemical spill emergency.
NIMS/ICS Online
Training (Source:
FEMA.gov)
Who has to take NIMS and ICS training? Stakeholders [all
emergency response agencies, whether government, business/industry,
faith-based, or other volunteer organizations] will define the
emergency management/response personnel within their jurisdiction,
agency, or organization who require ongoing training. This includes
all emergency services related disciplines such as EMS, hospitals,
public health, fire service, law enforcement, public works/utilities,
skilled support personnel, and other emergency management response,
support, and volunteer personnel, as follows:
Entry Level:
FEMA IS-700.A: NIMS, An Introduction
ICS-100: Introduction to ICS or equivalent 4
First Line, Single Resource, Field Supervisors:
IS-700.A,
ICS-100, and
ICS-200: Basic ICS or its equivalent
Middle Management: Strike Team Leaders, Division Supervisors, EOC
Staff, etc.:
IS-700.A,
IS-800.B NRF,
ICS-100,
ICS-200, and ICS-300
Command and General Staff; Area, Emergency, and EOC Managers:
IS-700.A,
IS-800.B NRF,
ICS-100,
ICS-200, ICS-300, and ICS-400
NIMS/ICS
courses are provided free online, and each only takes an hour or so to
do. It is very strongly recommended that all Emergency
Planning or Response personnel complete, as a minimum,
IS-700.A,
ICS-100,
ICS-200, and
IS-800.B. Every citizen who is interested in how your
emergency responders manage incidents, from multiple-car accidents to
major disasters, should take at least
IS-700.A,
ICS-100, and
ICS-200. When you have finished the course you will be sent
an email link to download your certificate of completion. DO NOT
delete the email, but store it in your account for future use. Once
you have downloaded your certificate, the only way to get another copy
is to use the original email link. Please give copies of your
certificates to whoever is responsible for emergency planning at your
company or organization. Then they will know whom they can call on to
help out in an emergency.
